“Sleep hygiene” or the habits that can help us fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer are skills that can be practiced. If you’ve been struggling with sleep for a while, look into cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). Please talk to your primary care doctor about a sleep study to rule out any underlying health issues.
